Summer temperatures are in full swing. With those rising temperatures comes the rise of energy bills. How do you know if your home is energy-efficient? Here are a few things to look for that will indicate you may need some help with your energy efficiency:
- There are some rooms in your home that are hotter or colder than others. This issue is often overlooked because homeowners get accustomed to living in these conditions. But if your home has these issues there’s a high chance it’s lacking when it comes to energy efficiency. The comfort issues could be a result of leaking or poorly designed ductwork and improperly installed or inadequate insulation levels.
- Your AC vents have dust streaks that come out of the sides of them. If your duct system is sealed right there should be no way dust can enter or leave the ductwork. If you have streaks on the walls by your AC registers it can mean that you have some duck leakage.
- The return where you put the filter in, is loud and sucks the filter up fast. Returns can often be undersized, which will decrease the airflow of an air conditioning system and raise static pressure. These issues are detrimental to the home energy bills and can lead to serious comfort issues.
These are just some key indicators to look out for to determine if your home is energy efficient or not.
